Brandee Younger led a trio of harpists who recently joined singer Moses Sumney at Brooklyn’s 99 Scott for an enchanting live performance of his haunting single “Quarrel.” Their performance for The FADER follows the 2017 release of Sumney’s debut full-length album Aromanticism. Sumney’s delicate, nuanced falsetto is matched note for note by Younger and fellow harpists Ashley Jackson and Elizabeth Steiner. Their fluttering arpeggios trade with Sumney’s vocal in a captivating exchange captured by director Kevin Hayden. Younger’s live performance of “Quarrel” follows her contribution to the original recording of the track from Sumney’s acclaimed release.

Harpist Brandee Younger, a regular collaborator with Moses Sumney and the harpist featured on the studio recording of “Quarrel” was given the task of assembling 3 harpists by Moses, himself, to back him up for this rare, live taping. Younger, one of the leading contemporary harpists of her generation, called on 2 of her colleagues to assemble a harp powerhouse trio: NY based harpist Dr. Ashley Jackson, fresh off of a performance with The New Philharmonic and Philadelphia based harpist Elizabeth Steiner, the recently appointed executive director of the Lyra Society.
